This year Wasaga under Siege is a Huge 4 day event from Thursday August 14th through to Sunday August 17th. This year also marks the 200th commemoration of the Battle of Nottawasaga Bay and the sinking and destruction of HMS Nancy. It is expected that there may be up to 500 re-enactors and thousands of public attending.
Volunteer opportunities exist for:
Refreshments/BBQ – serving customers, collecting cash and Barbequing sausage and hotdogs.
Parking – providing access and information to re-enactors into the Town Parking lot to west of the Welcome Centre. Maps will be available to give to visitors looking for parking opportunities around the Nancy Island site.
Shuttle Driver – to transport re-enactors between Nancy Island and the Wasaga Trail Centre parking lot off of Blueberry Trail. Must feel comfortable driving a van and passengers in Wasaga Beach traffic.
Golf Cart Driver – to assist loading, unloading and transporting re-enactors and their supplies onto Nancy Island from the Town parking lot west of the Welcome Centre. Must be physically able to load and unload and have experience driving an extended golf cart. Please note golf cart and shuttle drivers are required Wednesday through to Sunday evening.
Admissions – only a few openings left to collect fees, count visitors and provide event information. This year admissions will be set up at the entrance to the Nancy Island parking lot just off of Mosley Street.
